Our superfine white clay powder has been chosen for its incomparable quality. Delicate enough for babies and children. The Clay can be used for masks, poultices, and clay water. With its neutral pH, it is particularly appropriate for the care of dry, sensitive, and fragile skins. It is a valuable aid in the care of irritated skin on account of its antiseptic and healing properties. Absorbent, decongestant, regenerating and soothing, it eliminates toxins and impurities, revitalises and calms whilst encouraging healthy cellular renewal without harsh chemicals or irritating ingredients.

What it is

Kaolin is a naturally occurring clay substance mostly found in soils that have developed from the chemical weathering of rocks in hot, moist climate and made up of the mineral kaolinite. It is a soft white powder that becomes smooth and creamy when added to water. There are many colours of kaolin clay, however white kaolin clay is the gentlest and most used in cosmetics. Kaolin clay doesn’t dry out your skin. In fact, it has a great ability to maintain the natural pH level of your skin.

Why it works

Kaolin Clay is considered safe and generally non-sensitising and is particularly good for sensitive and delicate skin types. It is also suitable for dry, oily, mature skin. This soft and gentle clay can also be mixed with water to form masks that helps to absorb excess oil on the skin as well as draw out impurities, leaving the skin refreshed and balanced. Other applications include in the formulation of natural deodorants, poultices, and scrubs.

Growers use kaolin to help control damage to fruits and vegetables from insects, mites, fungi, bacteria, and to protect against sunburn and heat stress. This naturally occurring clay has been used for many years in foods, cosmetics, and other materials. Based on widespread usage and extensive toxicity studies, kaolin is considered safe for humans and the environment.

Every clay has its own character and qualities. If the mixture is too thin, add more clay, if too thick, add more water.

Hydrate clay with water. Using spring water, floral hydrosol or pure oil and mix into a creamy consistency paste.

For best results steam clean the face to open pores before applying Leave clay on for approximately 10 minutes. Less time for dry skin and more time for oily skin.

Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat dry. Spray with floral hydrosol and use oil or moisturiser to finish.

We recommend using 2-4 times a week if you have oily skin and 1-2 times a week for everyone else.
