FAQ
What is body butter?
Body butter is a rich nourishing cream that’s great for replenishing and locking moisture in dry skin. It contains a combination of natural unrefined raw carrier oils (like Shea, Cocoa, kokum, or Mango Butter) that help to deeply nourish and hydrate the skin. Formulated without water, body butters have a rich thicker consistency than lotions and normal moisturisers. Preservatives are needed when making products containing water such as lotions. Body butters do not need preservatives and have shelf lives of 1-2 years, depending on the oils used.
What does body butters do?
Body butter hydrates, smooths, and nourishes. The carrier oils and fatty acids penetrate deep into the skin to restore and retain moisture. Once applied, a protective layer is formed, helping to lock in moisture for soft, healthy, and hydrated skin.
What are the benefits of body butter?
The benefits of body butter include:
• Deeply moisturising the skin
• Hydrating dry areas
• Helping skin to retain hydration
• Forming a protective layer on the skin’s surface to lock in moisture
• Reducing redness and irritation
• Offering anti-ageing properties
• Reducing the appearance of wrinkles and stretch marks
• Softening and smoothing the skin
How to use body butter?
The best time to apply body butter is after a shower when skin is still slightly damp. Scoop a generous amount from the tub and use circular motions to gently massage the butter in until fully absorbed. Pay particular attention to extra dry areas, like elbows, knees, and ankles. Your skin will immediately drink up the butter, especially during winter months. Some people can apply the butter in morning, and it lasts the entire day, while others may need to apply twice a day, it all depends on various skin types, activity, and weather conditions. You'll get the feel for how much or how little you need.
Why is my body butter texture different in different weathers?
Body butters can harden or soften due to seasonal temperature changes. During the winter season it may harden, during hot summer months the body butter maybe softer, this does not retract from the nutritional values of the ingredients.
Certain butters, like Cupuacu have a melting point of 86 degrees while harder butters like Kokum have a melting point of 90-104 degrees, Cocoa Butter, 93-101 degrees. This is just the nature of working with and using pure natural butters. Commercial companies add synthetic stabilizers to creams which helps them stay creamy even with temperature changes.
We do not use synthetic stabilizers. Body butters can be placed in the fridge for 30 minutes to an hour to gain firmness. Room temperature (70-74 degrees) will be best for storing your body butters.
