What is it?

What are the differences between the grades?

The two main types of diatomaceous earth vary in their concentrations of crystalline silica.

Food Grade: Considered safe for humans. This type contains 0.5–2% crystalline silica and is also used as an insecticide and an anti-caking agent in the agricultural and food industries. It is approved for use by the EPA, USDA, and FDA.

Filter Grade: Also known as non-food-grade, this type contains upwards of 60% crystalline silica. It is toxic to mammals but has many industrial uses, including water filtration.

Can I take it daily?

Take about one teaspoon of food grade Diatom Silica with water twice a day. Take it on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes to one hour before or two hours after eating.

Increase your dosage slowly over several weeks, working your way up from one teaspoon to two teaspoons daily, or one tablespoon. Split the dosage into two parts taken in the morning and one at night. If using as part of a detox, please contact us for more information.
